POLO-TIP:
How to improve your Polo with training on different horses…

Which one is your favourite horse? It is the horse that allows you to do absolutely anything that you want it to do, the horse that stops when you need it, that turns easily and let you hit the ball. And this is also the horse which you use most of the time, right?

Yet riding that favorite horse might be fun yet it does mean you get any better…

As each horse is different, having different temperments, differing heights and also different reactions etc. it is important that you are capable of dealing with all kinds of horses, and the best way to do this is by training on different horses.

Yes, this takes you out of your comfort zone and by meeting the challenge will push yourself to the limit, but it´s of great benefit!

Begin with well-trained horses that are easier and work towards riding more challenging horses. Becoming a better rider takes years to achieve, however every extra hour in the saddle brings you nearer to that goal.

Being a good rider is also shaped by confidence. Do not try to go too far too soon with a horse you are not used to, as that likely harms your confidence. It is better to take your time and stay relaxed.

Let´s train with clearly defined exercises…
not “just riding or doing stick & ball”. Using cones or similar objects on the field helps a lot to get a clear structure in your exercise. Ride along a clearly defined path, in a clearly defined speed, stop at a certain point (not anywhere on the field) and do the same stick & balling. Do the same exercise with different horses, analize what you can do with each horse and why you cannot do it with other horses. What went wrong? What do you have to change in order to get a better result?

Ask a professional to help you and talk to advanced riders to get their opinion and don´t give up until it works! You´ll improve your seat, your timing and your understanding of the horse. And you will have even more fun. Promised!
